Cumbria RU Pay Tribute to an Outstanding Young Man
The news of the passing of James Addyman has shocked the Rugby Family this week, as tributes from Rugby Clubs and Rugby Stars have poured in over the various Social Media Channels. Waking up to the tragic news on Tuesday 12th November certainly hit everyone associated with Keswick RFC and the wider rugby community extremely hard.
James was such a big character and the way in which he had dealt with his adversity was a fantastic example to anyone. He attacked his illness as he played his rugby, with determination and 110% effort. His loss at only 23 years of age is incredibly sad and thoughts go out to his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
Cumbria RDO Liam Nicholls said "I had the pleasure of working with James with the Cumbria U18's Squad around 5 years ago and have known him for longer than that, seeing him progress through the school and club ranks he was always an outstanding talent. He was one of the toughest, nicest and most genuine people i have ever met. I know he will be sadly missed by so many people and this awful news has been felt much wider than just Keswick RFC, such is James' impact on all those he has met in the rugby community."
A statement from Cumbria Rugby Union - "On behalf of Cumbria RFU we would like to offer our sympathies to the family and friends of James Addyman. A truly inspirational rugby playing young man."
