Keep your boots on as a Referee!
Cumbria Rugby Union Referees are the rugby match official body in Cumbria. Working very closely with the Cumbria Rugby Union we provide whistle blowers to everything from junior/schools to L6 level rugby in the County with some of our members going onto referee at the highest levels including Pro 14, Tier 2 tests, U20 World Cup and International Sevens tournaments.
Refereeing really is the best seat in the house and it doesn’t matter if you are 15 or 80, if you love rugby and are fit enough to get around the field, we want to hear from you. If you wish to join our ranks please send an email to brian.mitchelhill@sky.com . At CRURS we put emphasis on culture and teamwork and as such we adopt a high quality approach and attitude to the development of our referees. We conduct regular sessions for the whole Society and benefit from time to time from the input of Elite level referees. We aim to keep everyone informed including players and coaches through our Twitter page, and input when necessary to the Cumbria RU newsletter.
We would be delighted to hear from anyone who has an interest, firstly in Rugby and secondly in participating in the game. It is no secret that the CRURS is struggling to recruit new members and in all seriousness the situation cannot be allowed to continue, if we want to see the continuation of competitive rugby in the County it is essential new refs come forward, let’s not forget that you cannot have a game without a referee!!
C’mon you guys and girls who are considering hanging up your playing boots, give refereeing a go, you will enjoy it, you will join a highly respected group, you will continue to be in the game and you will receive full support in developing as a whistler.
